Driven To Insanity

Have you ever had a problem? Not just any problem, but one that was unique to you. Perhaps you finally realized that life on Earth is suffering, from the moment you get out of bed. Imagine a person who just woke up, they stay in bed, and a couple of hours go by. If they don't move, they will gradually get hungry and smell unpleasant because they didn't have their morning shower. Perhaps this message is a reminder to get up and do the things you need to do in order to be the best person you can be. Beyond the concept touched upon in Buddhism of life is suffering, we return to your problem. Maybe your friends call you a hypochondriac, you're making it up. A concept that could occur because of the Placebo effect. For example, you go to the doctors complaining about back pain. The doctor prescribes you pills, but little did you know those pills were actually just chewy tablets with no effect whatsoever. You begin to feel better after a few doses, it's a mental game. Obviously, this concept in no way, shape, or form is a comment on modern medicine and the human dependence on it. You understand, however, when you feel ill or experience pain, you need to heal. Just like in video games, in which, a player takes damage, if they don't gain health soon, they will die. You're now aware of the concept of death. Aside from religious beliefs, you understand that the human body shuts down after illness, old age, or other underlying causes. Perhaps, you now see your problem as less important because you only live one time.

Beyond that, haven't you ever tried to explain something to someone, but they just didn't understand? Or worse, trying to explain something to your parents, but you give up halfway because you assume "they wouldn't understand". Why do people think they are special? An idea explored in ancient times as being "the chosen one". What if you truly did have a problem that was unique to you? No one understood, no cure existed, it simply drove you mad? After all, we are only human, we seek to know, and sometimes what we find out has a negative effect on us. Well, one rant later and you suddenly realize I'm talking about you, that one pain you have, that one memory you hide, that one time you thought of something that you think no one should know about. We all have problems, but doesn't it bug you when you feel like the problem is yours and only yours?

Something to think about...
